Hey y’all, some of that ole Texas slang coming back. So, I first heard this question from a motivational speaker about when we are trying to make our goals reality and it’s really stuck with me in applying when I have moments where I just feel stuck. I feel like a mentioned this quote in a previous post but I feel its something that has been really working for me. It’s not anything difficult but it’s just simply asking what do I need in this moment to either feel better, think differently, or just do more than I’m doing now? I’ve also noticed I use this more often on clients, they could have just expressed a whole lot about things going on, but simply asking what they need right now, can help in shifting that focus on all the things one has going on and really just think about a short-term satisfaction to fulfill something one may need in this moment. Do you ever feel you need something in certain moments to just escape for a brief second? I know I do, sometimes how I’m feeling is deeply rooted and just anything little on the surface can annoy me so in these moments, I truly just ask, what do I need? What is really bothering me? How can I shift it in this moment with one small thing? Then I do that one thing to get me back right.
Here are some things I occasionally need to just make the day go by a bit better in moments where I can’t seem to get out of a funk, they may come in handy, if you ever run out your own.
- Positive affirmations/positive quote
- A nice cup of tea
- Mediation
- Something sweet or salty
- Silly conversations and sometimes in-depth ones as well
- A simple smile from anyone
- My one on one time with the boo
- A funny movie
- A stress ball
- The sound of music and just dancing because I do best when no ones watching and my vocals during those times are really on point.
- Cook something from one of the many cook books I own
- Take a stroll outside for a few minutes
- Lavender scented candles
- Flowers
- Be lazy and not have any responsibility for like 30 minutes or so.
- Love, comfort and affection
- A hug
- A nap
- Quiet Time
There’s always one thing we need to get us from where we are to where we would like to be so just like I’ve emphasized the importance of checking-in with yourself, ask yourself this key question and make it a point to do something about whatever is going on with you. Don’t let things build up or try to avoid them because the time will come when your emotions can’t handle all the things you’ve been holding in and you explode at unexpected times so cater to yourself and your needs today and everyday to keep things simple for you.
Thanks for coming and reading
